No registration is required and there is no fee for the program beyond park admission.

Paris Mountain State Park is off S.C. 253 (State Park Road), six miles north of downtown Greenville. Admission is $2 for ages 16 – 64, $1.25 for S.C. seniors and disabled persons. Children under 16 are not charged admission.

The Artist as Naturalist
Presenter: Bruce Bunch

Mr. Bunch is an Artist in Residence for SC State Parks, and is on the faculty of the Greenville County Art Museum. Learn how to “see” nature as an artist sees it. Practice your observational skills and use the techniques that an artist uses to closely observe the natural world.

Meet at the Park Center. No registration is required and there is no fee for the program beyond park admission.

Dragons and Damsels
Presenter: Dr. Wade Worthen

Dragonflies and Damselflies are among the most beautiful and fascinating insects that share our environment. Join Dr. Wade Worthen of Furman University on a walk around Lake Placid, observing and learning about these colorful and important creatures.

Annual Meeting:
All Friends are invited to this celebration of things you helped to accomplish in the park.
Come at 5:00 pm for an evening the whole family will enjoy. Bring a salad or dessert.
Friends Board members will provide the main course.
Meeting place to be announced.

Searching for Fossils.
Presenter: Dr. Brandis Hartsell, Roper Mountain Science Center

Dr. Hartsell will explain how fossils are formed, where to look for them and how to find them. She will also have samples of Carolina fossils to examine. The program will end with a table top “mini fossil dig.“

Fun with Science
Presenter: Dr. John Kaup, Furman University students

Join Dr. John Kaup and Furman University science students as they lead participants in hands-on activities and experiments.
