Paris Mountain State Park Reduces Trash Can Population Paris Mountain State Park has removed all the trash cans throughout the park and now has a central trash collection area where visitors can deposit their trash and recycle aluminum, glass and plastic. The central trash collection area is located at the rear of the Park Center parking lot, and small trash bags are available at the fee booth. Nationwide, parks are doing the same thing, for three reasons: To encourage visitors to reduce how much material they bring into the park; to encourage people to buy reusable materials when possible, and to recycle in proper containers, The intention also is to add to the mountain park’s appeal by eliminating trash, and lessening bee and fly populations, in picnic areas. Each park shelter now has a bulletin board showing the location of the central collection area. For more information, call (864) 244-5565 during office hours from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The park’s Web site is www.SouthCarolinaParks.com. Paris Mountain State Park is off S.C. 253 (State Park Road), six miles north of downtown Greenville. Admission is $2 for ages 16 – 64, $1.25 for S.C. seniors and disabled persons. Children under 16 are not charged admission. Jason Hege: Park Manager |
